Soy Glazed Shrimp
You only need a few ingredients for this recipe that you already have in your pantry. I like to cook shrimp with the tail on, especially the large or jumbo shrimp. Not only does it add more flavor, but the shrimp doesn’t curl up as much which gives it a prettier finished look.
Ingredients
- 1 lb shrimp (uncooked)
- 5 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds
- 3 tbsp avocado oil
- 3 tbsp cilantro (chopped)
- salt (to taste)
- ground black pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- First things first, start by washing and deveining the shrimp.
- Season the shrimp with the ground black pepper and the salt.
- Turn the stove on to medium heat.
- Put a large shallow pan on the stove and add the oil.
- Once the oil starts to get hot, arrange the shrimp on the pan in a single layer.
- Cook the shrimp for one minute and flip it on the other side.
- After you flip the shrimp, add the dark soy sauce, hoisin sauce and one tsp of the sesame seeds.
- Cook for another minute and take it off the heat.
- Place the shrimp in the serving plate and garnish with chopped cilantro and the rest of the sesame seeds.
Notes
Tips:
- Make sure you don’t overcook the shrimp. If you do, the shrimp loses it’s unique texture and becomes chewy.
- Once it turns pink, flip the shrimp after 30 seconds. Serve it warm over any steamed grain (quinoa, buckwheat, etc…) Enjoy!
